Best chance of snow on Tuesday & Tuesday Night at Steamboat

Summary

On Monday and Monday night, snow showers are possible. Then on Tuesday and Tuesday night, we’ll have a better chance for a couple of inches of accumulation.

Short Term Forecast

Sunday turning out to be partly sunny with no snow.

On Sunday night, a period of light snow moved over the mountain and the mid-mountain and summit snow stakes both show 1 inch of accumulation.

On Monday and Monday night, we will continue to see unfavorable southwest flow, though a wave of energy could create snow showers and light accumulations.

On Tuesday, a wave of storm energy should create a higher chance for showers, and then on Tuesday night, winds will finally blow from a more favorable west or west-northwest direction and we could see a couple of inches of snow which would create softer turns on Wednesday morning.

Extended Forecast

Wednesday should be mostly dry with just a low chance for a scattered shower.

Thursday and Friday should be completely dry with warmer high temperatures in the 30s.

Then we will see our next storm between Friday night and Sunday. This storm looks like it will be of moderate strength – not too weak, not too strong, just somewhere in the middle. This could mean snowfall in the range of 2-8+ inches and soft turns on Saturday, maybe extending into Sunday.

After that, a series of storms with snow and colder temperatures should begin around February 3rd and may continue for five days or longer.
