More snow through the holiday weekend at Steamboat

Summary

Wednesday morning will offer 5-7 inches of fresh snow that fell on Tuesday night, and more snow will fall from Thursday night through Saturday morning.

Short Term Forecast

On Tuesday and Tuesday night, the snow came through after all. Accumulations on Tuesday were 2-3 inches, and then on Tuesday night, an additional 5-7 inches fell. This brings the storm total to 7-10 inches. Enjoy the soft turns on Wednesday morning!

From Wednesday through Thursday, I expect a mix of drier weather, maybe some breaks of sunshine, and maybe some showers. We will be under the influence of lingering moisture and weak storm energy, but it is unlikely that these factors will be enough to create much if any accumulating snowfall.

From Thursday night through Friday night, the chance for snow will increase, especially from later Friday afternoon through Friday night. Let’s set our expectations around 6-12 inches for now with soft snow on Friday and maybe deeper powder on Saturday morning. Snow totals could be greater than this, but I hate to over promise and under deliver.

Saturday should offer a short break in the snow.

Then from Saturday night through Sunday night, the next storm will arrive. Due to the storm’s unfavorable southern track, we will likely see lighter snow amounts, though if we’re lucky, perhaps we’ll sneak out 6+ inches if a few factors come together perfectly. We’ll dial in the forecast over the coming days.

Extended Forecast

Next week, from Monday, February 15 to Friday, February 19, the weather pattern looks active with at least two storms, one around Tuesday and another around Thursday. Let the good times roll!
