Weekend snow at Steamboat

Summary

Friday will be mostly cloudy with light snow showers, then a stronger storm will deliver snow from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.

Short Term Forecast

On Thursday, we saw 1-2 inches of snow in the morning followed by drier weather, mostly cloudy skies, and just a few peeks of sunshine.

Today on Friday, we will see mostly cloudy skies again with maybe a few snow showers and also potentially some peeks of sunshine.

On Saturday, we should start out with dry weather, then the incoming storm will bring snow from Saturday afternoon through Saturday night, and snow showers should linger into Sunday morning. Total accumulations will likely be in the 5-10 inch range, and with most of the snow falling near or after lifts close on Saturday, we should find the most powder on Sunday morning.

Extended Forecast

Even with new model data coming in, the forecast for next week hasn’t changed, and that’s a good thing because more storms are on the way.

We will start next week with dry weather on Monday and Tuesday, February 22-23.

Then snow should return sometime between Wednesday, February 24, and Thursday, February 25. This storm may not take a favorable track for big snowfall, though we should at least see some accumulation.

After that, there should be another chance for a storm during the weekend of February 27-28. And yet another storm could track through Colorado during the first few days of March.

While it’s too soon to know how much snow any of these storms will deliver, we can’t ask for anything more than chances for snow throughout the long-range forecast, so this is good news.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
