Steamboat storm update

Summary

Snow fell from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning and snow will continue through Monday mid-morning. Expect more snow late Tuesday into Wednesday and March 21-24.

Short Term Forecast

Saturday was windy. Snow did not start until late afternoon and then it continued on-and-off through Saturday night.

Now on Sunday morning, snow totals are 5-6 inches per the official resort report though the wind blew the snow off the snow stakes so we can’t visually see this snow total on the mountain cams.

Expect snow showers to continue on Sunday, Sunday night, and through Monday late morning with 3-8 additional inches of accumulation. Even though it’ll feel like the storm is over, Monday morning could offer surprisingly fun/soft turns.

On Monday night and Tuesday morning, we’ll see a break in the snow.

Then from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, the next storm should bring light-to-moderate snow totals. I have low confidence in the amount of snow and it could be anything from a few inches to 6+ inches. The best turns should be Tuesday’s last chair or Wednesday’s first chair.

Extended Forecast

On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, we will see dry and warmer weather with high temperatures in the 30s and 40s.

Then from Sunday, March 21 to Wednesday, March 24, a series of storms will bring snow back to Colorado and we might be able to enjoy a powder day or two during this time.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
