Forecast full of potential

Summary

We'll see snow on Friday and Friday night, dry weather on Saturday, and snow returning from Saturday night through early next week.

Update

For a recap, Thursday started with sparkly snow showers which amounted to a coating to 1 inch of snowfall. Then the rest of Thursday and Thursday night were dry.

Friday: Snow showers are already starting to return to northern Colorado, and a storm will bring accumulating snowfall from Friday late morning or midday through Friday at midnight. This system should deliver 3-7+ inches of snow with low-end powder possible on Friday's last chair and/or Saturday's first chair. Also, the storm will have a wind direction from the west, which is favorable for us, so we may see a bit of an upside surprise. The high temperature on Friday will be in the teens.

Saturday: We will see low-end powder or at least soft snow in the morning due to the snowfall from later Friday and Friday night. On Saturday, the weather will be dry and partly sunny with a high temperature in the mid-20s.

Saturday night to Tuesday: A favorable combination of moisture, storm energy, and the jet stream will track over northern Colorado. At the least, we should see snow showers with a few inches of snow during these days with strong winds on Sunday gusting in the 40-50 mph range. That said, with the jet stream overhead, there is a potential for narrow bands of intense snow which can produce snow accumulations that are much deeper than the forecast. I am keeping my eye on this time period, especially on Sunday, for what could be double-digit snowfall amounts. Stay tuned.

Wednesday & beyond: I have low confidence in the forecast beyond about March 8. The most I can say at this point is that we could see one or two storms between March 9-11, and then there will be more chances for snow after March 11th but there is too much uncertainty to figure out any details.
