Saturday morning freshies, more snow coming up

Summary

The storm delivered snow from Friday midday through Friday night, and Saturday morning should offer fluffy fun across the mountain.

Update

The storm performed about as we expected with snow falling from Friday midday through Friday night and low-end powder during Friday's last chair and now on Saturday's first chair. At mid-mountain, we saw 3 inches of snow on Friday and another 3 inches of fluffy accumulation on Friday night, and the summit received about 3 inches more snow than at mid-mountain.

Saturday: The morning will be fun with soft snow due to the accumulation on Friday night, and the weather during the day will be partly sunny with a high temperature in the mid-20s.

Saturday night to Monday afternoon: A favorable combination of moisture, storm energy, and the jet stream will track over northern Colorado. I have moderate confidence that this will result in narrow bands of intense snow which will drop 5-10 inches of accumulation. The best chance for snow should be between Sunday midday and Monday morning, so we can watch out for potential powder on Sunday's last chair and Monday's first chair. Also, there will be strong winds on Sunday gusting in the 40-60 mph range during the day.

Tuesday & Wednesday: I think we will see drier weather during this time with daytime temperatures in the 20s.

Thursday, March 9 – Saturday, March 11: I now have medium confidence that we'll see a storm during this time period as storm energy from the west coast finally moves east into the Rockies. However, this is still about one week away and too far out to discuss details. Stay tuned.

Longer range: I have pretty high confidence that we will see snow, but pretty low confidence in the details. My best estimate for our next storm is sometime in the March 15-18 timeframe.
