Snow outlook through mid-March

Summary

We will have a chance for intense snow Sunday into Monday, then more snow is likely later this week and the following week as well.

Update

Saturday was dry and mostly cloudy with a high temperature in the 20s. There were a few flakes roaming around northern Colorado, but not enough for measurable accumulation.

Sunday to Monday night: A combination of moisture, storm energy, and the jet stream will track over far northern Colorado. This combination will create narrow bands of intense snow which should drop 5-10 inches of accumulation, though chances for snow will be higher north of the mountain and we'll be roughly on the edge of the deeper snowfall. The best chance for snow should be between Sunday midday and Monday morning and again on Monday afternoon, so we can watch out for potential powder on Sunday's last chair and on Monday. Also, there will be strong winds on Sunday gusting in the 40-60 mph range during the day with continued gusty winds on Monday.

Tuesday & Wednesday: We will see drier weather during this time with daytime temperatures in the 20s. Winds on Tuesday could still be gusty with speeds of 30-50 mph

Thursday, March 9 - Monday, March 13: Multiple storms should bring snow on some or many of these days, but I have low confidence about the exact track of these storms, so I will keep the forecast vague for now.

Thursday, March 16 - Sunday, March 18: More snow is likely during this period as there is pretty solid agreement among the longer-range forecast models. But this is still 10+ days away so I will again keep the forecast vague for now.
