A storm in the (distant) future?

Summary

Most of the next week will offer sunny and comfortable weather, and we will likely see colder air and snow starting around January 7-8.

Update

Friday was a sunny day with a high temperature in the 20s, and we'll see the same weather today on Saturday. Thanks to the low sun angle and cool temperatures, snow conditions are hanging in there, and it's great that the majority of the mountain's terrain is open.

The next seven days will be dry with a lot of sunshine and a high temperature in the 20s, and we will see just a few chances for snow.

  • Sunday, December 31 to Monday, January 1: A storm tracks to our south. Maybe a few flakes?

  • Wednesday, January 3: A storm tracks to our south. Maybe a few flakes?

  • Friday, January 5: A storm tracks to our south. If it moves slightly farther north, maybe we'll see a few flakes to light accumulations.

The next chance for colder and snowier weather will start later on Sunday, January 7, or on Monday, January 8.

While it is highly likely that this storm WILL bring significant snow to somewhere in the Rockies, it is too soon to know if the storm will make a direct hit on us here in Colorado.

Pencil in some snow and colder temperatures from about Monday, January 7 to at least Tuesday, January 8, and we'll figure out the details in the coming days.

Unless we get lucky during the next week and a storm brings more snow than expected, we'll make do with the snow that we have and we'll be thankful that cool temperatures and a low sun angle will keep the snow in decent shape.
