New snow, and now comes the wind

Summary

On Friday night, 7 inches of snow fell at mid-mountain, so there will be some soft snow on Saturday morning.

Update

Friday

Friday was the final dry and warm day, and we also saw gusty winds during the afternoon.

Saturday

The storm dropped 7 inches of snow at mid-mountain and 9 inches at the summit on Friday night, and this new snow will be untracked on Saturday morning.

The base will be crunchy, so the best conditions could be on lower angle and previously groomed terrain.

From Saturday late morning through the afternoon, there may be a few inches of additional snow, but the bigger story will likely be gusty winds that could impact some lift operations and decrease the snow quality.

The high temperature will be in the upper teens to low 20s.

Saturday Night

There may be additional snow accumulations as the storm strengthens to the east of Colorado and the wind direction is favorable (from the west), but moisture will be lacking so I think new snow will be just a few inches. Winds will remain gusty.

Sunday

We'll see a mix of gusty winds (decreasing later in the afternoon), some clouds, and some breaks of sunshine. The high temperature will be in the 20s.

Next Week

Most of next week will be dry, and our best chance for light snow will be around Tuesday night through Wednesday as a storm clips northern Colorado. High temperatures will be in the 30s early in the week through Wednesday, then later in the week, temperatures will warm into the 40s on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

In the longer range, our next chance for a stronger storm could be around Sunday, April 14.

My next update will be Saturday morning.
