Sunday Snow Total

The storm on Saturday night delivered 7 inches at mid-mountain and 15 inches at the summit.

The mid-mountain snow stake cam is below and shows about what I expected (the forecast was 4-8 inches).

The summit snow stake cam is wind-affected and rarely shows the snow amount that the ski patrol reports. So I will trust the ski patrol's 15-inch report and this confirms the possibility of an 'upside surprise' that I talked about in yesterday's forecast.

Sunday

Sunday morning's conditions will be fun with the new snow from Saturday night and 2-5 inches of accumulation throughout the day with a temperature in the teens. The weather setup on Sunday is similar to late Saturday night, so there could continue to be an upside surprise at the summit.

Sunday Night & Monday

On Sunday night and Monday, snow will continue to fall. I think another 3-6 inches is a reasonable forecast, and with continued moisture and a favorable wind direction and temperature, actual snow totals could be higher than expected.

Tuesday & Wednesday

Both Tuesday and Wednesday should be dry with temperatures in the teens.

Thursday

Thursday may bring light snow, but the storm will only brush by Colorado and I expect little accumulation. The temperature will be in the teens.

Next Storm

The next storm could bring snow during the weekend of January 11-12, though again, this storm will likely brush by Colorado, so snow accumulations could be on the lower end.

Longer Range

Colorado will likely be on the edge of the storm track through about January 16, and then starting on or after January 17, a stormier weather pattern may bring more snow.
