Update

Oh baby! The storm delivered, with 7-8 inches of snow falling on Friday night, and another 11 inches falling during the day and very early evening on Saturday. That brings the storm total to about 18 inches, and I hope you enjoyed some of this powder!

Looking ahead, we will see dry weather on Sunday, then the next storm will bring snow from Sunday night through Monday afternoon. Like the last storm, this system will blow in with a wind from the west, with temperatures that hold steady or rise slightly, and this is a pretty good setup for Steamboat to get a lot of snow. Thus my forecast shows 3-6 inches by the time you wake up on Christmas morning, and another 3-6 inches during the day on Monday, with perhaps a few flakes sticking around early Monday evening. Enjoy this perfectly-timed storm to bring snow on Christmas;-)

Following this system, I think the storm track will push about 200 miles to the north, and this means that December 26 through about January 2 should be on the drier side. It is possible that a storm might drop south into Colorado during these days, though, so stay tuned for daily updates. Also, the storm track should shift south again as we get into early January, so I have confidence that the snow will return.
