Summer Adventures...

Update

The Weather:

High pressure has finally parked itself over the region, just in time for the first day of Summer.  High temperatures at lake level should stay in the 80's at least through the end of next week.

Also just in time for Summer, they opened the dam for tubing and rafting down the Truckee river.

The RV:

I will be posting on some more topics during the Summer along with initial looks at the forecast for next season.  That should help to fill in the posts through the Summer for those of you who click on here everyday still out of habit from the Winter.

I bought an RV from the mid 90's back around the end of the ski season that needed a lot of work.  The last owner started stripping it down and I continued and then refurbished it inside and out the last 2 months.  It's not complete on everything I want to do, but it is complete enough for this Summer after 10 weeks of hard work!

Here are some photos of what it looked like before I started, I wish I had taken more.

You can see that those were published originally on the BAs Summer Adventures Instagram story, where I will be posting most of my Summer content not directly related to Lake Tahoe and weather.

Here are some of the finished product shots from last week.

One of the things I did not do yet was to replace all the upholstery, but it was in decent shape compared to the rest of the RV.  I also stripped down the outside, painted on new stripes, re-coated the roof, and re-sealed the entire RV.  Also, new tires, and new transmission.  Definitely enough to keep me busy!

Summer Adventures:

The next important step was to test the RV at a nearby campground to make sure it actually works...  We took a trip close by over to Cisco Grove this week.  It's an older campground, but the access to the mountains and rivers is great!

Also a good chance to take a much needed break.

We had a blast touring the rivers and waterfalls.  We were the only people out there.

The RV did spring a couple leaks, haha, but I was able to fix those when I got home.

Now we are ready for the road.  Unfortunately my wife and I both have minor surgeries scheduled in the first half of July, so we may not be able to hit the road for our around the country trip until later in the Summer.

You can follow along on here as I will post updates through the Summer along with weather posts.  You can also follow along at the BAs Summer Adventures Instagram page.  I also started a Tahoe photo contest this week on the TahoeWeather Instagram page.

I know some of you don't have Instagram, but I would recommend getting the app, and you can also access it online.  Instagram came out with a new video app IGTV yesterday.  I will likely be using that a lot this Winter when posting live videos of the storms or other weather content.

Enjoy the Summer weather!

Stay tuned...BA
