Saturday Summary...

Update

The big news of the week will the cooler air moving in starting Sunday.  The winds will be gusty Sunday as the cold front moves through.  High temperatures drop down into the 50's through the upcoming week behind the front, with lows into the 20's in the valleys.  It may stay breezy through midweek.

We are not expecting any storms through at least the 5th of November.  In the last post at length that as we go through the 2nd week of November there are signals that the pattern could be more favorable to see some precipitation in Northern CA.

The Pacific NW is going to get the storms and then dropping into the Rockies over the next 2 weeks.

The forecast models continue to try and keep the ridge near the coast deflecting storms to our North in the long-range.  The ensemble mean runs continue to show precip starting to work further south into Northern CA beyond the 5th, although it's light amounts.  The PNA and EPO forecasts are near neutral during that time, but the PNA is trending negative which is a more favorable pattern.

The MJO forecasts have trended towards more active and moving through the Indian Ocean week 2.  That can trigger a shift in the pattern for the West Coast that is maybe not being picked up yet by the forecast models.

For now, we have no storms to speak of over the next 2 weeks.  Just a continuation of a few signals the pattern could change as we go through the 2nd week of November.  But we aren't seeing it show up consistently on the models yet, so we are really just grasping at straws until then.  The good news is that colder air this week should allow for some snowmaking on the mountains.

Stay tuned...BA
