Sunny Wednesday, Heavy Snow Thursday, Nice Weekend...

Summary

- A break Wednesday but it stays cold. Ridgetop winds only gusting to 35+ mph early Wednesday morning and increasing to 55+ mph by afternoon. Mostly sunny with highs in the 30s. - A stronger storm moves in Thursday morning, with snow showers lingering into early Friday morning. We could see 10-20 inches of powdery snow on the mountains, and 5-15 inches at lake level. Winds gusting to 70+ mph Thursday morning and dropping to 60+ mph in the afternoon, possibly affecting some upper mountain lift operations. Highs in the 20s on the upper mountains and 30s at lake level. - A drier pattern begins to build in Friday through MLK weekend. We should see mostly sunny skies with lighter winds through the weekend. Still cold Friday but then warming into the 40s in the lower elevations Saturday through Monday. - High pressure over the West begins to shift east a bit next week with a trough trying to nose into CA. We could see a couple of weak systems Monday through Thursday. Then possibly drier for the weekend of the 24th. - We may see more unsettled weather the week of the 27th.
