Winter Makes A Brief Visit Sunday...
Summary
- Partly sunny skies with some high clouds expected for Friday. Highs in the 50s. - Saturday we will see increasing clouds and wind as a system approaches from the north. Cooler with highs in the 40s. Ridgetop winds increasing to 70+ mph from the southwest. - We could see snow showers move in by Saturday evening with steadier snow possible overnight with th cold front. Snow showers lingering into Sunday before the system departs Sunday night. Colder Sunday with highs only in the 20s on the upper mountains and 30s at lake level. Cold northeast winds gusting to 40+ mph over the ridges. We could see 2-4 inches of snow at lake level, and 3-6 inches on the mountains by Sunday afternoon, slightly more possible south of the Tahoe basin. - Next week starts dry and cool with sunny skies and highs in the 30 for the upper elevations and 40s at lake level Monday, with northeast winds still gusting to 40+ mph over the ridges. Then lighter winds, sunny skies, and milder temperatures throughout the rest of the week. Highs into the 40s for the upper elevations and 50s at lake level. - We may see the pattern begin to shift by next Friday. Some forecast models try to bring in a weak system next Friday and some next Saturday. Then the week of the 9th a large system off the coast may slowly move inland with precipitation for most of CA. The pattern could remain more active through March.
