Tahoe Daily Snow

The Wet Continues...
In the last post on Tuesday the forecast was for rain showers and thunderstorms through Sunday, with snow levels around 9000 feet possibly dropping to 8000 on Thursday before rising again. The forecast was for up to a foot of snow above the snow line.
That is exactly what has happened so far. Snow levels yesterday and overnight dropped to around 8000 feet. Several inches of snow accumulated on the mountain tops overnight. Mt. Rose is reporting 12 inches of snow in the past 24 hours and it is still snowing hard up there this morning at the base which sits at 8200'.
It is also snow at Squaw and Alpine which are the 2 other mountains that are still open. Neither have reported their snowfall numbers yet this morning, but you can see the fresh snow on the web cam.
The low responsible for drawing in moisture is slowing moving through CA and then into Nevada through the weekend. The showers and thunderstorms should continue at least through Sunday morning before we start to clear out. Snow levels are expected to start rising today back to 9000 feet or above. So the snowfall will be limited to the highest peaks. We could see another 1-2 inches of liquid through Sunday.
Stay tuned...BA
