Snow, Rain, Snow, & Blow...
Summary
Snow showers continue today with snow levels hovering around lake level. Ridge top winds continue to gust up to 100 mph. We could see 1-3 inches at lake level, and 1-6 inches on the mountains. Tonight heavier precip moves in and snow levels rise quickly overnight going above 8000 feet by Tuesday morning. We could see 1-3 inches at lake level, and 3-11 inches above 7000 feet before the switch to rain. Tuesday into Tuesday night heavy rain and high winds with up to 4 inches of rain along the crest, and winds gusting in excess of 100 mph on the mountain tops. Snow levels look to sit around 9000 feet. Wednesday a brief ridge starts to build in ahead of the next storm. That lifts the precip North with only lighter rain showers. Snow levels may rise to 9500 feet. Wednesday night we may see a complete break in any showers. Thursday the next storm pushes closer and the heavy precip returns in the afternoon, with snow levels still around 9000 feet. Then Thursday night a cold front pushes in colder air and snow levels begin to fall to 7000 feet by Friday morning, and then hovering around 6500 feet during the day Friday behind the front. We could see 2-10 inches on the mountains by Friday afternoon. Friday night a final wave may push in with snow levels dropping below lake level. We could see 3-6 inches at lake level, and 5-8 inches on the mountains before the snow finally tapers off by Saturday morning. High pressure builds in next weekend with dry weather, sun, and highs in the 30's. Then warming into the 40's the week of the 13th as we have about a 6 day dry spell. Starting around the 17th a trough may push into the West Coast bringing a series of colder storms later in the month.
