Snow, Snow, Snow...

Summary

Increasing clouds and winds today with highs in the 40's. Winds gusting to 50 mph this morning on the mountain tops should increase to 60+ mph this afternoon. Snow arrives this evening. A cold front will push through overnight bringing in colder air and heavy snowfall. We could see 6-12 inches at lake level by Sunday morning, and 10-20 inches on the mountains. Snow showers continue Sunday into Monday before the storms clear out. Temperatures will be cold with highs in the 20's. Winds Sunday could continue to gust to 60 mph on Sunday and start to relax a little Monday. By Monday morning we could see an additional 5-10 inches at lake level, and 8-15 inches on the mountains. Monday lingering snow showers from a weak disturbance could bring a final 1-3 inches to the mountains. Starting Tuesday high pressure builds in with temperatures warming into the 30's and then into the 40's through the end of next week. The forecast models are split on whether high pressure is strong enough to keep storms just to our North, or if we will see a series of weak storms able to push into the area starting next Friday. The week of the 13th there may be a better chance of storms pushing in.
