Telluride Daily Snow
By Joel Gratz, Founding Meteorologist Posted 8 months ago February 29, 2024
Sunny through Saturday, then snow returns starting on Sunday
Summary
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be sunny and warm, then a slow-moving storm will bring snow on Sunday with flakes potentially hanging around on Monday and Tuesday as well.
Update
Wednesday
Wednesday was sunny with soft snow in the morning and temperatures that warmed into the 30s by early afternoon.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be sunny and warm with a high temperature in the low 30s each day. Due to the calm and clear weather, morning temperatures may be colder at the base with warmer temperatures up on the hill (this is called an "Inversion").
Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday
A slow-moving storm will bring snow starting on Saturday night or Sunday morning and maybe continuing through Monday. The most likely scenario is that we will see moderate snow totals with a decent chance for some powder during this time. I think that a cold front and/or the jet stream will stall to the north of Telluride, though if these features push farther south and stall closer to Telluride, then snow totals could be much deeper. For now, I'd pencil in the chance for powder on Sunday and/or Monday.
Longer Range
Tuesday, March 5 to Thursday, March 7 could be on the drier side, and then our next storm should arrive around Friday, March 8. And after that, we could see another storm around Thursday, March 14, plus or minus a day or so.
My next update will be Friday morning.
