Hump Day Powder!

Summary

A cold, quick-moving system pushed in overnight and today will be a powder day with snow continuing in a NW flow. High pressure takes control as we head into the weekend and early next week with dry and warmer weather.

Short Term Forecast

Cold front pushed thru overnight and brought anywhere from 2-6" of snow to most mountains.  LCC, as expected, has been favored in the post-frontal NW flow and has seen 8"+ of snow already.  Snow showers will continue today for some excellent hump day powder!

It will continue to be areas favored in NW flow that do the best today (Cottonwoods, especially LCC and lower BCC).  You can see the NW flow in the below surface wind animation:

Notice the NW winds over the Cottonwoods.  We will also have a chance for some lake-effect or enhancement downwind of the GSL.

Snow will gradually taper off tonight and we should clear out on Thursday to some degree.  High pressure takes full control this weekend with warm temps and clear skies.  Spring skiing arrives in style after weeks of storms!

Extended Forecast

High pressure remains in control thru the first part of next week.  We are still looking at the possibility of storms trying to break down the ridge late next week.  Models are all over the place with how this evolves, but current timing has our next chance for precip around March 22nd.  We will monitor this...
