Storm Wrap-Up

Summary

The big storm is now behind us. We will see some additional weak waves bring the occasional threat of snow showers this weekend into next week.

Short Term Forecast

REMINDER: ALL UTAH SKI AREAS REMAIN CLOSED DUE TO COVID-19

********************

Our storm is complete. Under normal circumstances, we'd be gearing up for our 3rd straight powder day. The storm brought anywhere from a foot to 30+" of snow to Northern Utah mountains. Very healthy amounts! It also did enough to boost our snowpack high enough that the statewide average is now 107% as of yesterday, which is higher that the median peak average snowpack. That means that we are guaranteed a statewide average snowpack peak above average!

For this weekend, we will clear out to an extent, but we will see a weak disturbance tomorrow (Saturday) that will bring the threat for a few light snow showers and clouds to northern Utah mountains. Don't expect much in the way of accumulation.

Another weak wave is possible for late Sunday into Monday. Again, very weak with limited accumulations.

Perhaps a slightly stronger wave is possible for late Tuesday into Wednesday, but models have not been handling this consistently.

Overall, it will be mostly dry but the threat for occasional mountain snow showers will exist. We can't rule out the possibility of a few inches of snow here or there.

Extended Forecast

Models in big disagreement starting next weekend. The GFS continues to bring storm energy into the region as we enter April. The Euro builds strong high pressure. I'm think the Euro has a better handle on this situation. We may see a period of very spring-like weather by next weekend.
