Update

Wednesday’s weather offered just about everything. There were times of sunshine. There were times of light snow with little accumulation. And there were times of intense snow with rapid accumulation, mostly late in the day.

Following Wednesday's on-and-off snow, there was additional snow on Wednesday night, and the final verdict on Thursday morning is about 5 inches at the official mid-mountain snow stake. About 2 of these inches fell on Wednesday and Wednesday afternoon, and then the other 3 inches fell on Wednesday night. Since most of this snow fell near or after lift closing time on Thursday, it will be fresh and available to ski on Thursday morning. Your best bet is likely to stick to the groomers and low-angle and/or north-facing terrain as these trails will be soft. I don’t think 5 inches will be enough to soften any steeper, non-north-facing terrain, but maybe it's better than I expect.

For the rest of Thursday, expect more clouds than sunshine and snow showers, mostly during the middle of the day and the afternoon, likely resulting in a few inches of accumulation by Thursday evening. This should keep the groomers soft through Friday morning.

Friday and Saturday should be dry, then from Saturday night through next Thursday the storm track will be just to the north of Colorado, and at times it will dip to the south and likely bring chances for snow to Winter Park. I have very low confidence about when this snow could occur, with an initial thought of Sunday, Tuesday into Wednesday, and next Thursday. I likely won’t have much confidence until each system is within 24-36 hours of arriving, and, fair warning, if each storm stays just a bit further north, snow could disappear from the forecast.

After that, there’s a chance for a significant storm sometime around April 7-10th.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for an update each morning!
