Update

Recap of Tuesday

After a cloudy morning, the rest of Tuesday turned out mostly sunny.

Wednesday and Wednesday night

We are still looking forward to a storm beginning around 2-4pm with snow continuing through Wednesday evening.

This storm will be strong, which is good, but I am keeping my expectations in check because the storm will move through quickly, have limited moisture, and the days before the storm will be drier, meaning that the snow base will be a bit on the firm side.

Total snowfall should be 3-6 inches, with a bit more if we’re lucky. Expect storm skiing on Wednesday afternoon (snowing, windy, low visibility, fresh snow on the mountain) and then clear skies and fresh soft snow underfoot on Thursday morning.

Thursday through the weekend

Thursday morning will offer fresh snow on the ground and sunny skies above with temperatures starting in the single digits. Then we should see dry and at least partly sunny weather for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Next week (December 17-21)

I do not see anything in the models to suggest a significant storm. One model does show the chance for some snow later next week (December 20-21).

After December 21st

This is when odds begin to increase for strong storms returning to Colorado. Also, the past two months have shown that we’re in a roughly 30-day cycle with stormier weather during the end of one month into the beginning of the next month, so it would make sense that the end of December would turn stormier. Let’s hope!

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
