Update

Wednesday

The 500am snow measurement recorded 1 inch of accumulation across the mountain on Tuesday night. Snow will fall between the 500am measurement and first chair, so expect deeper snow when you get out on the hill. This new powder will be thicker due to warmer temperatures.

Snow will continue through the day on Wednesday, forced by energy wrapping around a very strong storm that is forming over eastern Colorado. A wind direction from the northwest is great for Winter Park, so the combination of the wind direction and the strong energy should generate a lot of snow, around 8-12 inches during the day. The snow quality should become lighter and fluffier through the day as cold air moves in. The only downside will be strong winds, which could delay or close some lifts.

Wednesday Night

We should see a few inches after lifts close and before Thursday sunrise. Moisture will be decreasing quickly during this time, so I am nervous to promise higher snow totals, though as always keep your eye on the snow stake camera to see what’s actually happening.

Thursday

We should see dry weather with partly-to-mostly cloudy skies and chilly temperatures in the upper teens to low 20s. For snow conditions, the morning could be super fun if more snow than expected falls on Wednesday night or if some lifts do not open on Wednesday due to strong winds.

Longer Range

We will see a break in the snow and mostly sunny weather from Friday, March 15 through about Wednesday, March 20th. There could be a weak system later next week, and then there will be higher chances for snow starting around next weekend (March 23-24) and continuing through the final week of March.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
