Update

Tuesday

On Monday, we saw some sunshine and a few snow showers with a burst of 2 inches during the afternoon and another burst of 1 inch on Monday night. Tuesday’s weather will be the same as a storm to the south of Colorado will push moisture northward into the state and the warm air and wind from the southwest do not favor significant snowfall. Expect high temperatures on Tuesday to be in the mid-to-upper 30s with maybe light accumulations.

Storm: Tuesday Night – Wednesday Night

A very strong storm will form over eastern Colorado and this should give us a chance for snow starting later Tuesday night with snow continuing through Wednesday evening.

Tuesday night’s snowfall could be a few inches, and then the best chance for the most snow will be during the day on Wednesday with 6-10+ inches. While the Wednesday morning snow report might show only low amounts, conditions should get deeper through the day on Wednesday.

Then it looks like moisture will decrease on Wednesday night, so even though models show that snow will continue, accumulations could be just a few inches on top of the snow that fell during the day on Wednesday.

Recap: total accumulations should be 8-16 inches with the best powder on Wednesday afternoon and maybe soft leftovers on Thursday morning. Keep your eye on the snow stake cam on Wednesday night to see if ‘extra’ snow accumulates, as this could make Thursday morning deeper than expected.

Longer Range

We will see a break in the snow from Friday, March 15 through about Wednesday, March 20. After that, we could see a weaker storm around March 21-22, and then a snowy weather pattern should set up over the western US starting around the weekend of March 23-24 and continue through the end of March. This is good news!
