Opening Day is now set for Thursday, December 3rd!

Following a dry and sunny day on Monday, snow began to fall just before sunrise on Tuesday morning. As of Tuesday at 700am I see 1 inch on the mid-mountain snow stake. This isn’t a lot, but we’ll take the small victory!

During the rest of Tuesday and Tuesday night, expect on-then-off snow showers with a few inches of additional accumulations and a high temperature in the teens. On the upside, we could see 4+ additional inches if the showers come together in a favorable way thanks to a favorable wind direction from the northwest, north, and northeast.

On Wednesday, clouds will stick around with light snow showers continuing. High temperatures will be in the upper single digits to low teens.

Thursday (opening day) will be a transition day as the storm moves away and sunny skies return, though temperatures will remain chilly with highs in the teens. There should be some soft snow out there if any open terrain is ungroomed.

From Friday through Monday, look for sunny skies, dry weather, and high temperatures in the upper 20s to mid 30s.

For next Tuesday and Wednesday, December 8-9, look for more clouds yet still dry conditions and temperatures that are a few degrees cooler compared to the previous days.

Then, between Thursday, December 10 and Saturday, December 12, there should be a storm that will bring snow to the Rockies. It’s too soon to know if this will be a significant storm for Winter Park, but all my toes and fingers are crossed that the atmosphere will rectify our currently dry weather pattern.
