OpenSnow AI Forecast Verification: February 12-15, 2025
The OpenSnow team is in the final stages of releasing the first version of our new AI forecast model.
This new AI forecast model will provide a first look at taking the foundation of existing numerical weather prediction and applying decades of historical weather relationships to more accurately predict precipitation in complex, mountain terrain.

For this analysis, we looked back at the snow forecast from Wednesday, February 12, 2025, to compare against how much snow fell through Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10 ski resorts with reliable snow report data across the Western United States.
The result? The AI snow forecast beat the standard OpenSnow forecast for 7 out of the 10 ski resorts and scored 96% against the total snow report.
