Sunday soft at Winter Park, next powder day on Tuesday

Summary

On Saturday night we saw 7 inches of accumulation. The next storm will bring snow from Monday afternoon through Tuesday with a powder day likely on Tuesday.

Short Term Forecast

Following dry weather on Saturday, a fast-moving system dropped 7 inches of snow on Saturday night. This was just above the high end of the forecast range and I hope that you get to enjoy the freshies!

Sunday morning will bring more snow showers with light additional accumulations, then we should transition to drier weather through the rest of the day.

From Sunday night through Monday midday, the next storm will arrive in Colorado and we’ll see a mix of some clear skies, some clouds, and some periods of snow. Accumulations should be light.

From Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning, we should see periods of steady snow and even a time of very intense snow between about Monday midnight and Tuesday sunrise.

Then on Tuesday, snow showers should continue with additional fluffy flakes accumulating on top of soft powder.

The best time to find powder should be Tuesday morning’s first chair and watch out for conditions to stay soft or get even softer through the day on Tuesday. Total snowfall should 6-12 inches with some low-side potential if we miss any of the intense bands on Monday night and some high-side potential if we get all the intense bands on Monday night.

Extended Forecast

Wednesday will be dry, then the next storm could bring light snow from later Thursday into Friday.

The first weekend of 2021 will likely be dry.

A weak storm may bring snow later Sunday into Monday, then I am keeping my eye on the period around January 6th for another potentially stronger storm.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
