Winter Park Daily Snow

Storm Monday night, soft on Tuesday at Winter Park
Summary
Monday will bring lighter showers, then more intense snow should fall on Monday night with snow continuing on Tuesday. Conditions should be soft and fun on Tuesday.
Short Term Forecast
The tail end of Saturday night’s storm dropped 1-2 additional inches on Sunday morning, then the rest of Sunday turned drier.
Now on Monday morning, the next storm is entering Colorado from the southwest and should push showers here to the northern mountains through the day. We might see accumulating snow, especially during the afternoon, though the unfavorable wind direction from the southwest should limit accumulations to a couple of inches or fewer.
On Monday night, the snow will ramp up thanks to the storm’s strong energy moving across Colorado as well as the jet stream moving overhead. The jet stream can create narrow bands of intense snow, and let’s hope that luck is on our side and we catch many of these bands.
On Tuesday morning, we should see 3-8 inches of snow and there will be soft turns. The atmosphere could offer a brief lull in the snow early Tuesday morning, then additional snow should fall on Tuesday as lingering energy and a favorable wind direction will help the atmosphere produce more flakes. While the official forecast is only for a few more inches during the day on Tuesday, there is a chance for more snow than this, which could make Tuesday midday and afternoon sneaky fun.
Extended Forecast
Wednesday will be dry.
From Thursday night through Friday, a weak storm could bring light snow.
Then Saturday and Sunday should be dry and warmer with high temperatures back in the 20s and 30s.
Next week will start with a weak storm on Sunday night into Monday.
Then a strong storm, or storms, has the potential to produce significant snow between about Wednesday, January 6, and Monday, January 11. I am watching this period with cautious optimism!
