Snow on Thursday and Saturday at Winter Park
Summary
Monday through Wednesday will be dry, then we will see a few inches of snow on Thursday and another few inches of snow on Saturday.
Short Term Forecast
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will all be dry days, but there will be nuances for each day.
On Monday, we will start the day with a temperature inversion meaning that readings will be much colder near the base compared to higher up on the mountain. Temperatures should warm up nicely into the 20s at all elevations by midday.
On Tuesday, we will likely start the day with a temperature inversion yet again, though with full sunshine we could warm up to around 30°F.
On Wednesday, clouds will cover the sky for most of the day as moisture moves toward Colorado in advance of our next storm.
Then from Wednesday night through Thursday, a storm tracking to the northeast of Colorado will clip the northern mountains with snow. We should see at least a couple of inches and there could be soft turns on Thursday morning and during the day. If the wind direction and the jet stream lines up just right, accumulations could be 3-6+ inches.
Extended Forecast
On Friday, expect dry weather with the sun returning, though temperatures will be cooler (maybe in the teens).
On Saturday, a moderately-strong storm should bring snow for most of the day and an early estimate for accumulations is about 3-6 inches. Turns could get softer through the day, and if the snow hangs around into the evening, Sunday morning could be soft as well.
Looking ahead to next week, we should see a storm around January 18-19 and again around January 21.
