Snow through Saturday Night at Winter Park

Summary

Snow will continue on Friday into Saturday morning, then another storm will bring snow on Saturday afternoon through Saturday night.

Short Term Forecast

On Thursday we saw a few snow showers, then on Thursday night, we saw a period of steadier snow with 1 inch of accumulation.

Today on Friday, we should see snow showers all day and these showers will continue throughout Friday night and likely end (or at least slow down) by Saturday morning. Total snowfall on Friday and Friday night should get to 5-10 inches though I have low confidence in this forecast. If the snow materializes, conditions should get softer on Friday with potentially the deepest-feeling snow on Saturday morning.

On Saturday, snow should wind down during the morning, it could stop during the midday, then snow could ramp back up on Saturday afternoon and Saturday night as the next storm moves in. On Saturday night, even though the wind direction will not be favorable, enough storm energy could hang around to create at least a few inches of snow with accumulations between about 1-6 inches (yes, that’s a big range, as the forecast is very uncertain).

Then on Sunday, frigid air will push in with temperatures on either side of 0°F, and we’ll likely see an end to the snowfall.

On Monday, cold temperatures will slowly warm and the next storm should bring more snow from Monday night through Wednesday with flakes possibly sticking around into Thursday.

Extended Forecast

The longer-range forecast shows two storms. The first should be later next week, sometime between Thursday night to Saturday morning. The second storm should be sometime between Sunday and Monday (February 21-22). Let the powder party continue!
