Wednesday will be another beautiful day with sunny skies and a high temperature in the 30s.

The next storm will bring snow between Thursday morning to Thursday around midnight. The snow could start as on-then-off squalls on Thursday morning, then should transition to steadier snow during the midday and afternoon as the wind direction becomes more favorable (from the west-northwest and northwest). There could even be a period of intense snow on Thursday evening when all factors come together (moisture, storm energy, favorable wind direction). 

I still think that 4-8 inches is a reasonable snow forecast range, though, with a lot of moisture in the air and the storm strengthening as it moves past Colorado, there is a chance for an upside surprise with 10+ inches. The snow conditions should get better through the day on Thursday with fun snow for Thursday’s last chair. With snow continuing on Thursday evening, the best powder will likely be during Friday’s first chair.

Friday will return us to a springlike feel in the air with sunny skies and warm temperatures rising into the 30s. Any powder that falls on Thursday and Thursday night will become heavier and thicker on Friday mid-morning once the sunshine hits it, so if you are heading out on Friday with the intention of enjoying the new snow, get out for first chair and/or find areas that do not see direct sunlight early in the morning.

Saturday, March 6, will be dry and warm with high temperatures in the 30s.

On Sunday, March 7, a weak system could brush us with clouds and a chance for a little bit of snow.

On Monday, March 8, we’ll return to warm and dry weather.

Then between March 9-20, we could see up to four separate storms. I still have low confidence in the exact timing of these systems, but overall this is great news and I will keep you posted when I have a better idea of when we could expect deeper snow and potential powder days.
