Winter Park Daily Snow

Fresh snow on Wednesday morning at Winter Park
Summary
There is fresh snow to enjoy on Wednesday morning and snow is in the forecast through the weekend.
Short Term Forecast
Tuesday was dry, warm, and partly sunny.
On Tuesday night, a quick round of snow dropped 6 inches across the mountain, and snow showers are still falling as I write this on Wednesday at 700am. This is more snow than I expected to fall – enjoy it!
During Wednesday and Thursday, we should see periods of snow showers and periods of dry weather. Overall, the wind direction from the southwest is not favorable for big snow totals, but each round of snow showers could drop at least a coating to a few inches.
From Friday night through Sunday night, a powerful storm will track through southeastern Colorado. Winter Park will be in a favorable position to see a lot of snow from both the early part of the storm with winds from the east and the latter part of the storm with winds from the northwest. Total snowfall from Friday night through Sunday night could be 15-30+ inches with powder likely on Saturday, Sunday, and maybe Monday morning as well. Keep in mind that big storms like this can create difficult or impossible travel conditions and if the snowfall arrives as forecast, there is a chance that Berthoud Pass could close for a time due to accidents, low visibility, and/or avalanche risk.
Extended Forecast
The next storm should arrive in Colorado around Tuesday and Wednesday, March 16-17. We’ll need to wait and see how the weekend storm evolves before dialing in the forecast for potential powder days during the early and middle part of next week.
Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
