Friday was a gorgeous day and we’ll see more of the same on Saturday with plenty of sunshine and warm afternoon temperatures in the 30s and 40s. Winds could be gusty especially during the afternoon. Snow conditions will be firm and crunchy in the morning then softer and slushy by the afternoon. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen, and enjoy!

On Saturday night, the next storm will move into Colorado though it may stay just a bit too far to the west and we could see just light snow with low accumulations from late Saturday night through Sunday midday.

Then from Sunday afternoon through Monday, the next piece of the storm will give us a better chance for snow with 3-6 inches as the most likely outcome and a chance for much more than this. Areas just to the east of Winter Park, on the east side of the continental divide, will have the best chance for the most snow from Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon, and the wind direction from the east will not be favorable to bring us big snow. But, there could be enough energy in the atmosphere to overwhelm an unfavorable wind direction and bring us an upside surprise, so it bears watching. The bottom line is that our best chance for powder will be on Monday morning and midday, and accumulations will likely be fewer than 6 inches but could be much higher if a bit of luck is on our side.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, snow showers could hang around with the chance for light snow accumulations and soft turns, though I do not see a high chance that either of these days will be significant powder days.

The next storm should bring snow from later Thursday through Saturday, March 27th. This storm should take a track over Colorado (rather than to the south of Colorado) and so we’ll see higher chances for significant snow and maybe a powder day on Friday or Saturday. After that, it appears that we’ll transition back to dry and warm weather during the final few days of March and into early April.
