Thursday was a lovely day with plenty of sunshine, high temperatures in the 30s and 40s, and breezy conditions at times.

Now on Friday morning, a storm tracking just to the north of Colorado is bringing gusty winds, more clouds, and even some snowflakes. Following a chilly morning with temperatures in the teens, we should warm into the 20s by the afternoon, though we may have to deal with gusty winds for much of the day.

On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll flip back to warmer and dry weather with high temperatures in the upper 30s. Compared to Friday, the weekend will feel more springlike.

The latest forecast models are in, and all of them continue to show a high likelihood for snow starting on Monday evening, April 12, and likely continuing for 8+ days through at least April 20th.

During that stretch, it will not snow every hour of every day, but most or all days will have a chance for snow, and multi-day snow totals could be significant with 1-2 feet of accumulation very much a possibility.

While I have low confidence in the details of the forecast, if you’re looking for potential powder days, I would target the middle and end of next week (Tuesday through Friday).

This should be a fun storm system to forecast, and hopefully, it delivers a few late-season powder days.
