Friday powder at Winter Park!
Summary
Thursday afternoon’s showers delivered 11 inches by Thursday evening, so there will be fresh snow to enjoy on Friday morning.
Short Term Forecast
Thursday started dry with sunshine, and then showers arrived and stuck around through all of Thursday afternoon and continued into early Thursday evening.
It looked like the most likely outcome would be that these showers would drop a few inches of snow, but the atmosphere decided otherwise and directed the most intense showers directly over the mountain for a few hours. These showers dropped snow at a rate of 2-3 inches per hour at times.
On Thursday afternoon, 8 inches of snow accumulated, and on Thursday evening, an additional 3 inches accumulated. Some of this new snow was tracked on Thursday afternoon, though conditions on Friday morning should still be wonderful. Enjoy!
On Friday, once again we’ll start out with sunshine, then showers will develop starting around noon and should continue into the early evening. And once again, my expectations are low with just a few inches in the forecast, but as always, keep an eye on the snow stake cam to see if we get another high-side surprise.
Extended Forecast
On Saturday, our weather will be dry, partly sunny, and high temperatures will be in the 30s to low 40s.
Then on Sunday, which is closing day on the Winter Park side, we’ll see more sunshine, and temperatures will be warm with highs in the 40s to low 50s. Winds will be gusty during the day with speeds of 35-45mph at the summit.
The Mary Jane side will continue to operate after this weekend with closing day scheduled for Sunday, May 9th.
Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
