Heads up, there may be fresher snow! Read the latest Winter Park Daily Snow

Snow, Snow, Snow

Summary

On Thursday, light snow fell, then on Thursday night, the snow became more intense, and that is continuing now through Friday morning.

Update

On Thursday we received 1 inch of snow. On Thursday night, the snow intensified with 6 inches of accumulation. And now on Friday morning at 700am, it is snowing moderating with a coating to an inch of additional accumulation between 500am and 700am.

Friday & Friday Night

In the morning, expect the new powder to be thick and heavy. We'll see snow continue throughout the day on Friday and into Friday night with 8-12 inches of accumulation. The snow should become a little lighter and fluffier throughout the day and into the evening as temperatures cool.

Saturday

The morning should offer powder from the new snow that fell on Friday night. Conditions will be soft and fun. Most of the day will be dry as we'll be in between storms. Following the significant snowfall of the previous two days, keep your eye out for additional terrain openings. I have no inside information, it just feels like the right time.

Sunday & Sunday Night

The next storm will bring 4-8 inches of snow during the day on Sunday and on Sunday night. The snow will be fluffier than the current storm and the powder should get deeper during the day on Sunday with fun freshies (or at least fun leftovers) on Monday morning.

Monday Morning

This period should be dry or bring just light snow.

Monday Afternoon – Tuesday Afternoon

We should see another 4-8 inches of snow during this time, and thanks to colder temperatures, the new snow should be fluffy. Tuesday morning should offer good powder, with maybe refills during the day.

Wednesday, December 29 – Saturday, January 1

With a lot of storm energy still roaming around the western US, we will see more snow, but I have near-zero confidence about when and how much.

Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!

PS – The significant changes to OpenSnow that I've talked about for the last week are now live. If you're an All-Access subscriber (thank you!), you'll see no changes. If you are not an All-Access subscriber, here is an FAQ with more details about the upcoming changes, and we hope that eventually, we'll earn your support. Also, you can watch 2-3 minute videos about these changes made by myself, our Tahoe forecaster BA, and our Utah forecaster Evan. And finally, check out our Utah forecaster Evan's Twitter thread showing exactly how he uses OpenSnow's All-Access features to track powder.
