Summary

Expect sunshine and dry weather for most of the week, then our next chance for snow will be on Friday, January 14th.

Update

Sunday was a gorgeous day. The snowpack is what we expect (or more!) for this time in January, conditions are soft thanks to a lot of recent snowfall, and the skies were blue with light winds. Aside from a deep powder day with fluffy snow, it doesn't get any better than Sunday's conditions. Also, Eagle Wind Territory opened, so it was a pretty nice little Sunday after all.

The weather forecast for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday is easy: Mostly sunny skies, dry weather, light winds, and comfortable temperatures topping out in the 30s on the mountain. In the morning, temperatures at the base will likely be somewhat or even much colder than readings up at mid-mountain and the summit.

Our next chance for snow will be on Friday, January 14th. A surge of moisture from the southwest might make it as far north as Colorado at the same time as storm energy from the northwest pushes near Colorado. If the moisture surge makes it into northern Colorado, we'll see at least some snow. If the moisture does not make it this far north, we'll see no snow. Currently, some forecast models show us getting the moisture surge while other models do not, and I have no secret way to know which of the forecast models will be correct and which will be wrong. So we'll likely need to wait until about Wednesday to have more confidence in the potential for snow on Friday, January 14th into Saturday, January 15th.

Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!
