Emerging from the cold

Summary

Saturday and Sunday will be relatively warmer and the sun will return.

Update

Friday was very cold with temperatures hovering around 0°F for most of the day. It was also mostly cloudy with a few snowflakes in the air.

Now on Saturday morning, clouds are still with us, and temperatures are still cold with readings around 0°F.

But more comfortable temperatures are coming this weekend, as Saturday and Sunday's highs should rise into the teens to low 20s by the late afternoon each day. Also, sunshine should finally win out over the low clouds by later on Saturday, and Sunday will also be sunny.

Looking ahead to next week, Monday will be dry and mostly sunny with a high in the teens. Then on Tuesday, we could see snow showers as moisture moves over northern Colorado in advance of the next storm.

Sometime between Tuesday night and Thursday morning, a strong storm should sideswipe northern Colorado and we will likely see moderate snow totals with possible powder on Wednesday during the day and/or Thursday morning. A slight change in the track of this storm could mean the difference between a lot of snow and much lower snow totals, so let's not get too excited just yet.

Later next week and through Christmas, it's likely that additional storms will sideswipe northern Colorado, so we could see more snow and chilly temperatures. But again, slight changes in the track of these storms could mean the difference between a lot of snow and a little bit of snow, so we'll need to wait for a least a few more days to figure out the details.
