Thursday was dry with partly sunny skies.

Now on Friday morning, the snow stake is dry, but it won't be that way for long.

On Friday morning, a storm is bringing snow to southern Colorado, and steady snow should arrive here in the northern mountains around Friday midday. By Friday afternoon, we may see a few inches of accumulation, then on Friday night, we should see steady snow and more significant accumulations.

By Saturday morning's first chair, most forecast models predict 3-7 inches of snow, and some have up to 7-9+ inches of accumulation. This higher snowfall number is feasible thanks to temperatures that will cool into the zone for the atmosphere to produce lovely dendrite snowflakes and fluffy powder.

Following the fresh snow on Saturday morning, we should see dry weather for the rest of Saturday and throughout Sunday.

For next week, there could be light snow on Monday morning and then a more significant storm is likely with snow from Wednesday into Thursday.

And after that, we should see a stormy period during the January 16-20th time frame.
