Tuesday started with a fresh 1 inch of snow, then we saw dry weather during the day, then on Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night, the next storm delivered 3 inches of accumulation at mid-mountain (with 2 of those inches falling after the snow stake was cleared).

These three new inches of snow were well below the low end of my 7-14 inch forecast. I think that the reason we saw less snow than expected was that thunderstorms formed over the eastern plains of Colorado on Tuesday afternoon and this disrupted the flow of moisture into the mountains. Still, the 3 inches of new snow, on top of the soft-ish conditions we had on Tuesday, will ride ok now on Wednesday morning.

Wednesday will bring dry weather with a high temperature in the 30s. Go ride the new snow early in the morning before the April sunshine turns the powder to mush.

Thursday will be dry and warm with a high temperature in the 30s.

Thursday night is when we will see a fast-moving storm track from north to south through Colorado. This will be a strong storm and will likely bring 4-8 inches of snow between Thursday night at sunset and Friday morning at sunrise. Maybe this will be the 'redemption' storm after the lower-than-expected snowfall on Tuesday night.

Friday will offer powder in the morning, and again, get after it early as the strong April sunshine will turn the new snow to mush by midday.

Saturday, April 29 to Tuesday, May 2 will be dry and warm with a high temperature in the 40s.

Then Wednesday, May 3, and onward will likely bring snow showers back to Colorado and it is possible that there could be a period of steadier snow sometime later next week.
