Posting Schedule
I am traveling to ski with my family through February 2. In an attempt to spend as much time with them (and get some sleep, too!), my posts will be shorter and more to the point than normal. And I will write on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule unless it makes sense to adjust this based on the timing of upcoming storms. Finally, at the bottom of each post, I will always mention when to expect the next post. Thanks for your understanding and your support!
Wednesday & Thursday
Following warmer weather on Tuesday (with a high temperature of 10-15°F above zero!), the first part of Tuesday night is clear and dry.
By Wednesday morning, another arctic airmass will arrive and will bring light snow and high temperatures in the single digits on both Wednesday and Thursday. Since the air will be very cold, it will lack moisture, so snow accumulations should be light, just a coating to 3 inches.
Friday
Friday will be warmer with a high temperature in the teens. I think it will be mostly dry during the day, but I'm not sure as there is uncertainty ahead of the next storm.
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
From Saturday through Monday, a storm will cut off from the main flow of weather and it will stall to the southwest of Colorado. When storms cut off from the main flow of weather, they move more erratically, and forecast accuracy decreases. With that in mind, there could be snow any time from Friday night through Monday, and the high temperature should be teens on all three days. I wish I could provide more details about the potential snowfall, but that's not possible at this point.
Longer Range
Most of the week of January 27-31 should be dry, and then there could be another storm around the weekend of February 1-2. Storms have generally been on a weekend schedule for the past month, so why stop now?!
