March Doldrums

Summary

Pretty dull weather is indicated from the models to persist through mid month.

Short Term Forecast

Spring-like conditions are in the days ahead. Much warmer days are ahead Friday and Saturday which will make for some excellent afternoons on the mountain. A huge trough of low pressure will move through the west come Sunday, staying north of AZ. This will bring increasing westerly wind through the day Saturday and downright howling wind on Sunday. The wind direction out of the SW should not pose an issue for lift ops. The southern end of a cold front will barely make it into AZ Sunday night with little to no snow expected at this time. Wind on Monday shifts northerly behind the storm and this will continue into early Tuesday.

Extended Forecast

Beyond Tuesday it appears an extended spell of very quiet and warm Spring-like weather will develop. With a deep base excellent days on the mountain are assured.
