Update

On Monday, I talked about how the storm would be a game of a few miles one way or the other.

Well, we lucked out and saw the bursts of snow track over the I-70 region for most of Monday afternoon and Monday night, and these bursts of snow brought 4 inches during the day on Monday and another 4 inches on Monday night for a total of 8 inches on the Tuesday morning report.

In addition to the quantity of snow, the quality should be good because we saw thicker snow on Monday due to warmer temperatures and faster winds, then fluffier snow fell on Monday night due to colder temperatures and lighter winds. This pattern – thick snow under fluffier snow – is exactly what we want to see for a powder day. Tuesday morning will be a fun time to ski powder at Copper – get out there!

For the rest of Tuesday, expect light snow in the morning, then from late morning through the afternoon, expect bursts of snow alternating with breaks of sun.

Weather for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday should be dry, then our next chance for snow (a few inches) should be on Saturday and/or Sunday, though I can’t pin down the details just yet. The weekend storm will likely move to the south and west of Colorado for a few days, and then it may circle back and bring snow to Copper during the middle or end of next week.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for an update each morning!
