Happy Thanksgiving snow lovers!

Vail and Beaver Creek are the only resorts reporting fresh snow this morning. Our main weather-maker continues to spin to our west and it doesn't look like it's going to move much over the next 24-48 hours. Here's what we have through early next week.

Thanksgiving Day: Light snow showers along the entire corridor. It still looks like the best possible accumulations will be along and east of the Continental Divide so look for slightly slower travel speeds from Denver to the Eisenhower Tunnel.

Thursday Night - Friday: There could be a slight uptick in showers along the corridor beginning Thursday night and lasting through early Friday. All road surfaces will become wet and icy so reduced travel speeds are likely. It looks like we could see some clearing midday Friday but snow will linger along much of the corridor. As I've been mentioning over the past few days, Friday is also when the coldest temperatures will move into areas east of the divide so bundle up!

Saturday: Not much change. Light showers continue to fall along the corridor, with most of the action staying to our south.

Sunday - Tuesday: As I said yesterday, this will be the time to watch for increased activity. Our winds will transition and begin to give us the favorable west to northwest flow. The road surfaces could deteriorate during this timeframe so stay tuned to the forecast and CDOT for the latest travel conditions.

Later Next Week: Dry conditions prevail. All road surfaces will clear under warmer temperatures and sunny skies.

For skier traffic, here's what we'll be working with through Sunday.

Westbound I-70

  • Thursday: Light delays are possible between 5pm and 9pm.
  • Friday: Light delays are possible between 7am and 10am and again between 5pm and 9pm.
  • Saturday: Longer delays are likely between 6am and 10am.

Eastbound I-70

  • Thursday / Friday: No delays expected at this time.
  • Saturday: Delays are possible between 3pm and 6pm.
  • Sunday: Heavier snow showers and holiday travelers returning home will likely create longer delays between 11am to at least 6pm from Silverthorne to Idaho Springs.

Look for my next update on Friday morning. Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for reading!
