More Snow Coming!

Summary

Another storm will move in for the end of the week. This next storm will be an Alberta Clipper storm that will intensify in the Gulf of Maine on Friday. Early next week will bring the potential for another storm, although that one is less certain at this point.

Details

An active pattern is developing as we close out the month of January. Next up, an Alberta Clipper storm will swing into the region, spreading in snowfall on Thursday night. The initial passage of the clipper will bring mainly moderate accumulations, with widespread amounts of 3-6 inches through the day on Friday. Friday night, things could get more interesting as the Clipper heads into the Gulf of Maine. Forecasting models are suggesting the storm then intensifies and stalls out. Over the last 24 hours, the models have been bringing the snowfall associated with the stalled out storm further west, as far as the White Mountains. Additional snowfall amounts for the White Mountains and for Western Maine could be on the order of another 3-6 inches, maybe even more. Ironically enough, snowfall amounts for central NH, northern NH, and Western Maine could very well end up exceeding what we saw from the so-called Blizzard of 2015. Regardless, Friday and probably Saturday as well will be another couple of good powder days, especially for the White Mountain and Western Maine.

Long Range

Early next week there could be another more significant storm. Forecasting models have been all over the place with this one...anywhere from tracking the storm right through New England to way out to sea. What's important to know for right now is that there is definitely a good possibility for more snow early next week.
