Clear Weekend

Summary

No new snowfall for this weekend, and into the start of this work week. Big rain storm on Wednesday, coupled with increase in temperatures.

Short Term Forecast

Good morning everyone, currently we’re experiencing some bitter cold out there all across the board. Northern states aren’t even breaking into the teens, with the Sugar Loaf area in the negatives. Temperatures will increase throughout the day, but don’t expect them to go above freezing. It’s going to be cold on the slopes today, however winds won’t be blowing as fast as days previous. Cannon was reporting winds sustained around 40 mph yesterday, if that was the story for your local resort, don’t expect the same today. Here is the current temperature map for your area:

Looking ahead toward today, and the beginning of the work week, there are no storms that will produce any significant snowfall for the region. High pressure will dominate the region for the weekend, giving way to fair skies and reduced winds. The only chance to see much of any snow is Sunday. A low pressure system in southern Canada will move east Sunday overhead of New England. There is the chance for some flurries, or localized snow storms, but this would only accumulate to a dusting at best. If you’re looking to ski this weekend, don’t expect any kind of powder that isn’t man made! Here is the current forecast for your area this weekend:

Extended Forecast

Wednesday is the next significant storm that will cross over the region. This will not fall as snow however, it will fall completely as rain for the slopes. This storm will also be associated with a warm front, so temperatures will increase above freezing after it departs early Thursday morning. This storm will without a doubt eat up a good amount of the current snowpack, and would be a terrible day in general to go skiing. If you’re planning on going out Wednesday, it would be wise to change your plans to Tuesday if you can. It’s going to be a drewry, slushy day out there.

Following that storm on Wednesday, high pressure will again dominate the region into the weekend. So no chance of any sort of snow following the rain storm to help increase conditions sadly. Go out there this weekend and get some runs in before then. Check back in Monday for updates on Wednesday storm, have a great weekend.
