Steamboat Daily Snow
By Joel Gratz, Founding Meteorologist Posted 8 years ago February 16, 2016
We saw an additional few inches of snow on Monday, but unfortunately we also experienced a period of freezing drizzle during the day. Even though temperatures at mid mountain and above remained below freezing on Monday, liquid water can exist in the atmosphere when the temperature is below 32F and under certain situations mother nature chooses to drop the water in liquid form rather than frozen form. It’s a bummer when this happens, but it’s part of the process of recreating and enjoying the big mountains – sometimes everything doesn’t go our way.
On to better news … the sun will return and we’ll see gorgeous weather today on Tuesday and also on Wednesday. Then after a windy day on Thursday, a cold front will move through Steamboat on Thursday afternoon and we should experience a brief yet intense period of snow between about 4pm and 8pm on Thursday afternoon. This should drop a quick 3-5 inches and result in soft turns for Friday morning. Enjoy!
