Heat Wave...
Summary
Sunny and warm conditions expected over the next week with highs in the 60's on the upper mountains and 70's at lake level. Not expecting any changes to the pattern until November.
Short Term Forecast
Not much to write about today as we are moving into a nice heat wave this week as high pressure sits over the West Coast.
That will bring lots of sun and warm temperatures into next week.
Extended Forecast
The typhoon activity in the Western Pacific seems to only be helping to push the positive PNA (

The long-range model runs do show moisture trying to work under the ridge into CA without much success. The ridge may continue to retrograde Westward during the first week of November allowing storms to drop down the West Coast.
Technically there is a pattern change by the end of the month as the ridge moves West to the Gulf of Alaska and then maybe further West the first week of November. Right now that pattern change may only mean some cooler air. We will keep watching for a change that will allow storms to return.
The Season:
Still watching things develop for the upcoming season. Of note today is a lot of cooling along the equator with the sea surface temps. Also, more cooling of the water in the Eastern Pacific.
I have been posting the Winter forecast from weather outlets as they come out. This week the weather channel released theirs.
Not too far off what we have been talking about. Their temperature map has below average down into Northern CA. So still watching for a slightly colder than average Winter with possibly average snowfall even with below average precip.
That's all for now. We are waiting for Winter to start now over the next few weeks. Hopefully, it will at least get cold enough to make snow the first week of November.
Stay tuned...BA
