Still cranking!

Summary

Periods of light snow will continue through Friday before turning more showery through the weekend. Stronger storm still in the works for late Sunday night through Tuesday. Mostly dry during the middle of next week before we receive another chance for snow on March 3rd and 4th.

Short Term Forecast

I'll be off the grid from Saturday through Tuesday, February 28th at the Skinner Hut in central Colorado. Joel Gratz will be taking over my forecast duties until I return on Wednesday, March 1st. Let it snow!

Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole picked up 2 inches over the past 24 hours and that will be similar to what we'll receive through Friday evening. The remnants of an exiting storm will continue to bring us light snow, which keep soft and playful conditions in place.

This weekend will then feature off-and-on showers as cool, west-southwesterly flow continues to stream overhead. Any accumulations will be very light through Sunday evening.

The action will quickly pick back up on Sunday night and into early Monday morning as another fairly potent storm takes aim for the Intermountain West.

Moderate to heavy snow will fall through Monday and into Tuesday, with total accumulations of 8-14 inches at Jackson Hole and 6-12 inches at Grand Targhee. Monday and Tuesday will offer excellent turns so clear the schedule and take it all in!

Extended Forecast

After the early week fun, we'll see a mostly dry pattern prevail during the middle of next week. The graphic below depicts a building high pressure over the West Coast.

This will keep us on the southern edge of the storm track as just enough moisture sneaks into northwest Wyoming, bringing us our next chance for snow on Friday, March 3rd and Saturday, March 4th.

Looking further ahead, we'll continue to monitor the pattern and see if it will break open as we enter the heart of March.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
